Wondering where the name comes from?
My great-great grandparents settled the land that our ranch now lives on out in Stoneham, CO where they originally raised Hereford cattle and farmed. The ranch was established in 1910. For many years the ranch had three 'lakes' on it, right in the middle of our Northeastern CO plains. The largest one was frequently used to ski on.
Depending on the moisture for the year the lakes would often dry up and then get full again, which is why my relatives decided to brand the ranch as Dry Lakes Ranch. Nowadays the lakes do not fill very often, only once in my lifetime have I seen one of them fill enough to stick a canoe on. Every once in a while God will give us just enough moisture to remind us it's there, but the skiing days are behind us.
As new generations started taking the ranch over, and my Dad got into team roping, our ranch became a Corriente cattle ranch where we raise roping cattle. Although we have since moved on from the Dry Lakes name, it holds a special place in my heart with the history that it carries, so I decided to tip my hat to it in the form of my business name. I'm proud that it wears the name and am so happy to be able to share the history with all of you!
Before starting my photography business, I spent years in the ag finance world. These days, you'll usually find me with my beautiful family, roping, horseback riding, or enjoying anything that feels like old country life—those are the things that truly fill my cup.
I have a huge sweet tooth and I also think ribs are incredibly overrated. I frequently watched old musicals with my Grandma as a kid, so one of my favorite movies is Calamity Jane! I take pride in my ability to make people laugh and connect with my clients, so much so that I've cried during more mother/son dances in the last year than I ever have. I think my love for people and telling their story is what sets me apart from others and elevates my client experience!
